Privacy Policy

The short version
This site is built to know as little about you as possible. It is a showcase for a race car — there are no accounts, no logins, no forms, and no on-site payments. There is nothing here for you to hand us.
We don't set cookies, we don't store your IP address, we don't run ads, we don't sell data, and we never email you. Our only measurement is a small first-party counter that tallies anonymous page views.
The merch shop at shop.thedigicar.com is run by Spreadshop, a separate company, under its own privacy policy — this one doesn't cover it.
That's the plain-English gist. The full policy below is what's binding.
1.Who we are & what this covers
This Privacy Policy describes how TheDigicar LLC ("DigiCar," "we," "us") handles information when you visit the website at www.thedigicar.com (the "Site") — the home of The DigiCar, a 1993 Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) drag-racing build. It should be read together with our Terms of Use.
The Site is an informational showcase: build specs, history, press coverage, photos, and video. It has no user accounts, no login, no contact forms, and no on-site payments.
2.What we deliberately do not collect
- Set cookies or use browser storage. No cookies, no localStorage, no device or user identifiers of any kind.
- Store your IP address. Our analytics keeps only a one-way (irreversible) hash of it — see Section 4.
- Track you across the web. No third-party analytics, no advertising trackers, no ad networks, no social media pixels, no cross-site profiling.
- Collect your name, email, payment details, or precise location. There is nowhere on the Site to enter them.
- Sell or rent personal information. To anyone, for any purpose. We also do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Email you. No newsletters, no marketing. We only ever reply to email you send us first.
3.What we collect and why
The complete list is short:

We collect no other categories of personal information — no precise geolocation, no biometric data, no health data, no payment data.
4.Analytics: how we count visitors without tracking you
We use a small custom analytics system we built ourselves, not a third-party tracking service. When a page loads, your browser sends a tiny beacon to our own endpoint (/api/collect) containing only the page name. On our server:
- Your IP address is run through a salted, one-way cryptographic hash (together with your coarse browser/OS family — no version numbers) to produce an anonymous identifier used to count unique visitors. The hash cannot be reversed to recover your IP, the salt never leaves our infrastructure, and the raw IP address is not stored. The hash is also site-specific, so it cannot be used to follow you across other sites we operate.
- Our content delivery network (Amazon CloudFront) provides a city-level location at the edge, which we round to roughly a city-sized grid and save as coarse, aggregate geography (e.g., "Orlando"). No geo-IP lookups, no precise location, no street, no coordinates finer than that grid.
- Daily counters and visitor hashes are automatically deleted after about 13 months. Only lifetime aggregate totals — plain numbers tied to no identifier — are kept longer.
That's it — no analytics cookies, no fingerprinting, no third-party analytics scripts. Like most web infrastructure, our hosting and CDN providers (Amazon Web Services) process IP addresses transiently in order to deliver the Site and maintain standard operational logs; we do not use those to identify visitors.
5.Web fonts (Google Fonts)
The Site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser requests those font files, your IP address and standard request metadata are transmitted to Google LLC, like any web request. Google's handling of that request is described in Google's Privacy Policy. We receive nothing from this — no reports, no identifiers.
6.Cookies & local storage
We set none. No cookies, no localStorage, no session storage, no identifiers of any kind. The Site works identically with cookies blocked entirely.
7.Hosting & how information is shared
The little information described above is shared only as follows:
- With service providers. The Site is served from Amazon S3 through Amazon CloudFront, and our analytics runs on AWS (Lambda and DynamoDB) in the United States. Google hosts our email (Gmail) and serves the web fonts. These providers process data only to provide their services to us.
- Third-party hand-offs you initiate. The Site links out to social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok), press outlets, parts vendors, and the merch shop (Section 8). We embed none of their trackers; when you click a link you leave the Site and that party's privacy policy applies.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or legal process, or as reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of visitors, the public, or the Site.
- Business transfers. If TheDigicar LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy's commitments.
We never sell personal information, and we share nothing with advertisers — there are no advertisers.
8.The merch shop (Spreadshop)
The DigiCar merch store at shop.thedigicar.com is operated by Spreadshop (sprd.net AG / Spreadshirt), an independent third party. Any browsing, account, and purchase data there — including names, addresses, and payment details — is collected and processed by Spreadshop under its own privacy policy and terms, not this policy. We do not receive your payment information from the shop.
9.Data retention
- Analytics counters and visitor hashes: automatically deleted after approximately 13 months.
- Lifetime aggregate totals: plain counts containing no identifiers; may be kept indefinitely.
- Email: kept as long as needed to handle your correspondence.
10.Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information. Because we collect so little, there is usually nothing to act on: our analytics stores only salted hashes and aggregate counts, which we cannot link back to you — so we generally cannot locate, produce, or delete "your" records because no record identifies you. The one store of personal information we can act on is email you have sent us, which we will delete on request.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. To exercise any right, email thedigicar@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy."
11.Children
The Site is intended for visitors 18 and older and is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12.Visitors outside the United States
The Site is operated from the United States and data is stored on AWS infrastructure in the United States. If you access the Site from elsewhere, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.
13.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, will always be posted at this page. Your continued use of the Site after an updated policy takes effect constitutes acceptance.
